Buscador Wine

Buscador, Spanish for searcher, is a boutique winery tucked away
in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley just north of Santa Barbara, California. Owner, Matt Kowalczyk, is a searcher turned winemaker. You'll be glad his journey lead him to winemaking!

This month, The Wine Pairing Chef is featuring his 2008 Petite Sirah. Big and bold, this Petite Sirah stays true to varietal characteristics. Inky with firm texture and mouth feel, the bouquet has black pepper and blue fruit overtones. Surprisingly drinkable at an early age, this wine will only mellow providing endless satisfaction.

Our tasting at The Wine Pairing Chef revealed complimentary flavors including bay leaves, rosemary, and thyme.  Since Petite Sirah typically pairs well with strong flavors and hearty dishes,
we paired it with lamb. The resulting recipe - Braised Lamb Shanks with Bay Leaves, Rosemary & Thyme plays off the blue fruit and black pepper notes. The result is truly satisfying.
